Emotional Intelligence- A New Ladder To Success

EI

Are high grades, unbeaten mark sheet and top ranks the factors which impress you then hang back a little and reconsider to see success from another perspective? We have been taught in a way where “higher the marks, more the success” is always a criterion to judge someone’s success graph and it is generally conjoined with higher intelligence quotient and in other words high IQ.

Instead of high IQ why do we encounter few examples that aren’t doing well with their life and career? On the other hand with an average IQ, some are achieving the unreachable goals with an ease.

A lot of us also coin it as “destiny” but there is one thing which makes the successful people stand out from the crowd and that is their “Emotional Intelligence”.

Yes! You’ve heard it right. Being emotionally viable is a virtue of the achievers.

What is Emotional Intelligence or Quotient (EI OR EQ)?

We can define Emotional Intelligence as the ability to deal, recognise, understand and manage your own emotions as well as to understand, empathize and influence of other’s emotions.

Emotional intelligence has the power to drive our behaviour and actions in a particular situation or under pressure and can term as a new ladder to success.

Why is Emotional Intelligence a need of the hour?

When we read stories of successful people, we generally come across the same pattern of their success stories which includes their higher EI.

Emotional Intelligence consists 5 life-changing factors:

1) Self-Awareness: Ability to recognize and understand your emotions.

2) Self-Management: To manage different emotions such as anger, mood swings, changes and reactions and influences.

3) Motivation: There is no good motivator than your own. To achieve your goal, what strategy, action and plan you need, no one can tell you better than yourself.

4) Empathy: EI is not about knowing your own self but it is the ability to empathize with others emotions. The more you can understand and identify the mindset of the other, the easier it becomes for you to bring best out of them whether they are your team-mate, subordinates or seniors.

5) Social Activeness: To deal with conflicts, understand the need of others, negotiation, and gratitude are few virtues which make you socially adapt and lead you to success.

So just don’t stick on the credentials and mark-sheets, life has more exams than the schools and colleges have and we have no set syllabus for that. Emotional Intelligence will help you to get through.
